It boils rapidly (does half a litre in just under a minute and a half) with a blue light to indicate when it is on and looks pretty stylish too.One slight flaw perhaps; the kettle holds 1 litre of water but the filter reservoir only holds half a litre. So, if you want to fill your kettle you'll have to fill the reservoir once, wait for it to percolate through and then re-fill. The kettle uses Brita Maxtra filters, one of which comes supplied with the product and are recommended to be changed every four weeks. 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful  Breville Filter Kettle VKJ149, By This review is from: Breville VKJ149 Silver Brita Filter Jug Kettle (Kitchen & Home) This kettle is a delight it is light I went for the plastic rather than the Stainless Steel as my last one was Stainless Steel and was quiet heavy, OK for me but my 86 year old mother couln't lift it, it pours like a dream and is quieter than the one it replaced a Morphy Richards purchased approx 2� years ago which was heavy, leaked when you poured, lid hinge broke and I had to use gaffer tape to keep the lid on.
