I have an older one with the round filters at work and a more recent large jug at home which takes Maxtra filters. I decided to upgrade the home one to this Elemaris and love it! Same high quality Brita filtered water but with easier meter to reset, quicker filtration and no pre-soaking required for the Maxtra filter. This isn't the first Brita 'Maxtra'-type water filter jug I've used. The first was a Brita Aluna Xl. That was o.k. - well, I'm still using it - but it has a fairly limited capacity and the 'memo' cartridge meter function is pretty basic, simply warning you when you've been using the same filter for a while.But this one is much better. For a start, the meter actually does a bit more than simply time the usage. According to the manual, the meter: '...monitors the filtration performance and indicates the remaining cartridge life . The three-way measurement takes into consideration the volume of water filtered, water quality (hardness) and time'. I love it! You can use the grill side of it to cook thick meats like burgers or steaks and then use the griddle side to cook stuff like bacon, eggs, veg.Everything cooks fast and even and it is so much less hassle than using a grill or pan on your cooker. I used to use my cooker grill to make bacon but it took time to heat up and cook, the griddle heats up very quickly and what I really like is that I can put bacon on it that has not been trimmed and the fat just falls off! I bought it when my kitchen was being renovated last year and I didn't have any cooking facilities for a few weeks, and I can honestly say I have never regretted it. Cooks almost anything - sausages, fried eggs, vegetables, tomatoes, potatoes, chips - delicious toast and cheese, although it can get a bit messy. So although I have a brand new cooker, George still provides me with some quick meals. The plates heat up very quickly, but I usually stick to the one or two setting - it goes to three max and there are separate controls for each section. It can become dirty depending on what you are cooking but it is very easy to clean. A word of warning, the plates do get very hot and as the open hotplate is exposed, it is essential to keep oven gloves handy, and the fingers of small children away. 32 of 33 people found the following review helpful fry it., By This review is from: George Foreman 13589 4-Portion Family Grill and Griddle in Silver - Grill and Fry/Cook at Once (Kitchen & Home) a superb piece of equipment. cooks eggs majestically.only minor drawbacks are that due to the griddle the grill isn't as big as the 'grill only' models and the driptray doesn't 'slot' into a position so if you knock it acidentally they'll be fat over the worktops. one tip - manufacturer recommends cleaning with non-abrasive materials, the foreman sponges too (which aren't excessively expensive). However, i find the best way is too just turn it on to medium heat, leae it a few mins and then wipe it with kitchen roll and it'll just glide off (this is the same for any non-stick surface that gets a bit gunky). Be careful though as obviously it will be very hot. |
